LOCKPORT – Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon has scheduled a Jan. 9 trial date for Gia M. Arnold, the former State Senate candidate charged with illegal gun possession.
During a brief court appearance Wednesday, Sheldon also scheduled a pretrial conference in the case for Oct. 19.
Arnold, 26, of Rochester, was arrested in Niagara Falls Feb. 10 and charged with having an assault rifle and ammunition in the car in which she was a passenger. Arnold, who ran unsuccessfully for the 62nd District State Senate seat in the 2014 Republican primary, pleaded not guilty July 20.
The driver, Halim Johnson, 18, of Centre Avenue in the Falls, was indicted on the same weapons possession felonies as Arnold but has yet to be arraigned.
