Town of Tonawanda police seek help identifying bank robbery suspect

A Town of Tonawanda bank was robbed Tuesday afternoon by a man who claimed to have a gun, police said.

The bandit entered the Bank of America branch at 1188 Niagara Falls Blvd. about 2 p.m. and passed a note to the teller demanding cash, police said. The note threatened that he had a gun but none was displayed, police said.

The robber fled with an undetermined amount of cash on foot west on Treadwell Road toward Wrexham Court North, police said.

The suspect was described as a 25-year-old white male, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall and weighing about 180 pounds.

Bank surveillance photos released Wednesday show a man wearing a black Adidas long-sleeve sweat jacket, gray shorts, a black Brookyln Nets hat and dark glasses.

Anyone recognizing the man in the photo is asked to call the Town of Tonawanda police confidential tip line at 879-6606.
