LOCKPORT – The Niagara County Legislature approved a new contract for medical care for County Jail inmates Monday.
PrimeCare Medical of Harrisburg, Pa., will be paid $2.38 million in the first year of a three-year deal, starting Aug. 1. The company is replacing Correctional Medical Care of Blue Bell, Pa., which opted out of its contract after the county refused to grant it a price increase from $2.18 million to $2.55 million. PrimeCare will be allowed an annual increase of 2.9 percent or the level of the consumer price index, whichever is less, said Legislator David E. Godfrey, R-Wilson.
Also approved was a $132,598 service contract for the rest of the year with Motorola Solutions for the county’s emergency communications network. Motorola had given the county a year of free support after the $10 million network expansion came online, but that expired last month.
