LITTLEFIELD, Maxine

Littlefield - Littlefield - Maxine Age 85, of Mt. Holly Springs, PA, passed away peacefully in her home, Wednesday, July 20, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. She was born April 10, 1931 in Buffalo, NY, the only daughter of Maxwell N. and Marrine C. Eastman. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by an older brother, Brian N. Eastman. Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Colonel Richard E. Littlefield, USA, Ret; two daughters, Sarah Hansen (Philip) of River Falls, WI and Carolyn Shank (Larry) of Newville, PA; one son, Richard B. Littlefield (JoAnn) of Salisbury, MD; also surviving are four grandsons, Richard and James Littlefield of Salisbury, MD and Christopher and Maxwell Hansen of River Falls, WI. Maxine grew up in the environs of Buffalo, NY, graduating from Williamsville High School in 1949 and the University of Buffalo in 1954. She and her husband were married on June 19, 1954, after which they embarked on a 30 year military career involving 24 moves. Upon settling in Mt. Holly Springs, Maxine vowed that to be her final move. Her wish was fulfilled. She was an animal lover, housing from one to five cats during every year of her marriage, including a blind one. She had a great love for black labs. Maxine was an avid reader and crossword puzzler and before arthritis took its toll, enjoyed all types of needlework. At Maxine's request there will be no memorial service. Her ashes will be inurned at a later date in the U.S. Military Academy Cemetery, West Point, NY.
