HAACK, Br. David J., OFM

HAACK - Br. David J., OFM Beloved friar, faculty member of St. Bonaventure University, and artist, died July 20, 2016 at Holy Name Friary in Ringwood, N.J at age 70. Raised in Wisconsin and educated at various alma maters, he received a Master of Fine Arts degree, a Master of Arts in Philosophy and a Ph.D. in Humanities and Art History. He professed his solemn vows in 1987 and taught art and music in New Jersey, Maryland. and at Bishop Timon High School in Buffalo (1987 to 1990). He retired in 2013 as an assistant professor at St. Bonaventure University and remained an artist-in-residence at the University, continuing to paint and operate Haack Studiolo. Survived by a brother, Charles Haack of Fredonia, WI; a sister, Ricarda Haack of Cedar Grove, WI; nieces and nephews. Visitation is Monday (July 25, 2016) from 9-10:30 AM at the St. Bonaventure University Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany. Contributions may be made to The Friar Fund, care of St. Bonaventure University. Read complete obituary at
