Letter: Voting for Clinton continues the nation’s downward spiral

Voting for Clinton continues the nation’s downward spiral

A letter published July 7 credited President Obama for the great recovery the writer perceived after President Bush left office. When Bush was leaving office the housing collapse, initiated by the Democrats, was starting.

Bill Clinton coerced banks into giving mortgages to people without sound finances. The Democratic Congress under Bush continued the practice and Barney Frank and Chris Dodd assured the public that agencies like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were in sound financial shape. Both retired after the damage was done.

The unemployment rate was a true 4.7 percent when Bush left office, not the phony 4.7 percent reported now where eligible workers are not even looking for work and are not counted as unemployed. More people are on food stamps and other government assistance, thanks to Obama policies, and our national debt is nearing $20 trillion. When Bush left office the national debt was approximately $10 trillion.

Worldwide, our allies don’t trust us and our enemies do not fear us. Obama pulled our troops out of Iraq, leaving a vacuum filled by ISIS. He declared the war was over, but now our troops are back trying to retake areas once under our control. Obama refuses to listen to our generals and only take small steps in an effort to defeat ISIS.

Yes, a vote for Hillary Clinton will perpetuate the downward spiral our once-great country is in. She cannot be trusted, as evidence given by the FBI shows she lies and will say anything to gain power rather than protect our country.
