Hamburg could consider express bus service to city
Regarding the July 15 News article, “No Skyway? Hamburg mayor sees an alternative – extend light rail,” nationally, in 30 years, in attempts to revise rail urban transportation the few successes have high travel volume between high-activity centers. But at a high cost to taxpayers, primarily non-users.
Example: 300,000 passenger trips between downtown San Diego and the Mexican border require a subsidy of nearly 50 percent of operating and maintenance, plus all of capital costs.
Perhaps Hamburg could pay for an express bus to and from downtown Buffalo activity centers.
