An enterprising bandit used his cell phone early Thursday to tell an employee at an Ontario Street convenience store that she was being robbed, police reported.
The holdup at the 7-Eleven at 584 Ontario occurred around 5 a.m. when a white male entered the store and displayed a phone with the message: “This is a robbery. I have a gun,” police said.
The suspect – 5 feet 6 inches tall and wearing a hoodie, khaki shorts and black-and-white sneakers – took $24 from the employee before fleeing west on Skillen Street, poloce said.
No weapon was visible, police said.
