BASEBALL: Cayuga Heat 2017 travel tryouts begin next month in Niagara Falls. The 9U team has tryouts on Aug. 20 and 23; 10U on Aug. 13; and 11U on Aug. 10 and 13. BASKETBALL: Quintin Redfern, a former NCAA player and current assistant coach with Medaille’s women’s team, is hosting camps for boys and girls in grades 3-12 in late July and August. Boys grades 10-12 play July 25-28 at St. Gregory the Great in Williamsville; boys grades 3-9 play Aug. 1-5, girls grades 10-12 play Aug. 8-12 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran in North Tonawanda; and girls grades 3-9 play Aug. 15-19 at St. Greg’s. All camps are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $175 or $150 for the oldest boys division. Family discount is available. More info at last1best1.com.

FOOTBALL: Registration for the Buffalo Vets Little League is now open to all football players and cheerleaders ages 6-13. Registration is $90 and includes helmet and shoulder pads usage and uniform. Age groups are 6-7, 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13. Weight classes are unlimited. First practice is Monday, July 25. Sign up at Buffalovets.org

SOFTBALL: Batavia High School’s Blue Devils softball pitching camp runs Aug. 10-12 from 9 a.m. to noon. All levels welcome, but pitchers need to bring a catcher. For more information contact Kevin at (716) 983-5809. ... There is one opening for a women’s one-day round-robin slow pitch tournament in Alden on Saturday, Aug. 6. Entry is $150 and includes party. TENNIS: Signups for the annual Lockport Tennis Tournament will be held at the Lockport High courts from 6:30-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 10 a.m.-noon on July 30 and 6:30-8 p.m. on Aug. 1 (in case of rain, they’ll be moved to the Park office at Altro Park). The tournament runs Aug. 5-11 and is open to those who live and/or work in Niagara and Orleans Counties, Grand Island, or the Ken-Ton School District. Age groups run from 10U to 55-and-over.
