There were some unusual late-night cravings at a City of Tonawanda fast-food drive-thru early Wednesday. Grass, instead of Big Macs was in demand.
Two wandering horses were discovered near the McDonald’s drive-thru on Main Street shortly after 3 a.m., police said.
They and seven others had escaped their pen at the Canal Fest of the Tonawandas, and roamed city’s downtown during the early morning hours, police said.
Police officers were able to guide the horses back to their pen, helped by the person running the pony rides.
Police believe one of the horses unlatched the gate by reaching for tall grass near the pen.
