Northwest Bank in November plans to close a branch in the McKinley Plaza in the Town of Hamburg, and shift those operations to a branch being built in the Town of Orchard Park.
Pennsylvania-based Northwest has asked regulators’ permission to close a branch at 3670 South McKinley Parkway, across from the McKinley Mall.
The McKinley Plaza location is set to close at 2 p.m. on Nov. 4, said Melanie Clabaugh, a Northwest spokeswoman. The new branch in Orchard Park, at 3858 North Buffalo Road, is scheduled to open on Nov. 7.
Employees of the Hamburg branch will transfer to the Orchard Park branch, which is about four miles away. That will be in a location Ellicott Development is building.
The Orchard Park branch will feature a new “open concept layout” that Northwest has introduced in Pennsylvania. “It will look a lot different from the other (branches) we have up there,” Clabaugh said.
Northwest is on its way to acquiring 18 First Niagara Financial Group branches in the market that are being divested as part of KeyCorp’s deal for First Niagara. As part of that deal, Northwest is acquiring the former First Niagara branch at 5751 South Park Ave.
