Featured Driver of the Week: Rich Gardner

Age: 59.

Hometown: Waterford. Pa.

Division/Home Track: Super Late Models/Stateline/Eriez Speedways

Lowdown: Gardner is participating ion his 41st season of race car driving where he has competed in the Super Late Model division since 1980. He has amassed nine career Super Late Model championships and has collected about 70 feature race wins at various tracks including a big triumph in the “Papa” Don Franks Memorial three weeks ago at Stateline Speedway. He credits Fredonia Chrysler with helping to fund his career.

Career Accomplishments: Gardner won a track record five consecutive Super Late Model season points championships at Eriez Speedway from 2000-2004. He claimed three straight, Stateline/Eriez combined series championships spanning 2000-2002. He was Stateline Super Late Model titlist in 2008. He earned Driver of the Year honors at both Stateline and Eriez in 2004. Is also won the Fall Classic at Raceway 7 in Conneaut, Ohio in 2005 and at the Fall Classic at McKean County Raceway in East Smethport, Pa. in 2012. Garner claimed the checkered flag in the prestigious Lloyd Moore Memorial at Stateline in 2008.

Favorite Food: Pizza.

Favorite Music: Likes all types of music, saying “I like whatever moves me at the time including rock, country or whatever.”

Hobbies other than racing: Gardner is a “big” football fan spending fall weekends cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
