Driver pulled from burning vehicle after striking tree

SHERMAN – Emergency responders pulled a driver from burning wreckage after his vehicle hit a tree Tuesday night.

The driver lost control of his vehicle at about 9:40 p.m. on Morris Road near Webber Road, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office reported. The vehicle skidded across the road through oncoming traffic and struck a tree. It came to rest on its passenger side, the sheriff’s office said.

A fire erupted in the vehicle, but emergency responders pulled the driver from the burning car.

He was transported to Westfield Memorial Hospital for treatment. The driver’s condition was not known Wednesday morning.
