Blaze in Seneca-Babcock displaces six people

The Red Cross is helping two adults and four children after a Wednesday morning fire in the Seneca-Babcock neighborhood.

The fire at 67 Wescott St., just north of Seneca Street two blocks east of Babcock Street, caused $55,000 in damage, according to the Buffalo Fire Department alarm office.

The blaze, which was reported at 9:11 a.m., started in the second-floor bedroom. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to that area, the alarm office said.

The cause is under investigation.
