A Grand Island man arrested about 2 a.m. Monday is accused of calling Erie County Sheriff’s dispatchers and threatening to kill a deputy.
Sammy Abdellatif, 22, threatened to “murder” the deputy, who was not identified, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office said. The suspect was angered over a traffic stop for equipment violations, in which the female driver of his vehicle refused to provide her name or a driver’s license, deputies said. As a result, the deputy who was later threatened issued a ticket and had the vehicle towed.
Abdellatif was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment.
