Two people are in critical condition after a pickup driver crashed into a tree Sunday morning on the Cattaraugus Reservation.
Nine people were injured in the crash. Several people were ejected and several were extricated from the vehicle, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office said.
The crash happened at about 7:45 a.m. Sunday on Versailles Plank Road.
At least four people were riding in the cab while the others were riding in the bed of the pickup, investigators said.
Four victims were flown to Erie County Medical Center via Mercy Flight and three others were taken by ambulance to the hospital. Two victims left the scene on their own and went to Lake Shore Health Care Center in Irving, the sheriff’s office said.
Charges are pending against the driver, Jerry John. The crash remains under investigation.
