The NRA is suspiciously silent on right to carry
Am I the only person still waiting for the National Rifle Association to denounce the killing by police officers of two citizens carrying licensed legal firearms in large part because those citizens were carrying (though not using) those weapons? How much more can anyone violate Second Amendment rights?
And would the NRA, which justifies carrying weapons in order to defend citizens against government overreach, see a government agent’s killing someone for exercising his constitutional right – or for having a damaged taillight – as governmental overreach?
Or do these arguments work only for a privileged sector of American society, the gun lobby, and not for “we, the people?”
