Elmer Street woman charged with hurling hammer

An Elmer Street woman was arrested Friday by Northeast District police and charged with throwing a hammer at her roommate, and subsequently with drug possession.

Anternic Fulgham, 35, was outside her home when she got into an argument with the other woman, Juniece Hodge, through a window. Police said Fulgham became angry and threw a hammer, which shattered the glass. Both the hammer and the broken glass struck Hodge, who suffered several cuts and some swelling, for which she was treated by the crew of a Rural/Metro ambulance, police said.

As police were investigating the case, an officer saw an open shoe box on the kitchen counter, which contained 12 Suboxone strips, a scale with drug residue, packaging materials and alleged marijuana seeds and stems. Fulgham was charged with third-degree assault, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree harassment.
