Sunrise to sunset Buffalo News photographers bring you the best of Western New York in this week in pictures. Each photo tells a bigger story of what makes Buffalo the city of good neighbors, from the Community Rally in Niagara Square and a Black Lives Matter rally at Bidwell Park to the first annual Somali Bantu community day and the Queen of Heaven Carnival. We were entertained by Hollywood Vampires and Justin Bieber's "Purpose" tour. Development camp encouraged Sabres fans at the HarborCenter, while the WNY Quarter Horse Club captivated horse fans at the Fairgrounds in Hamburg. We also brought you inside the historic Buffalo Lighthouse and Buffalo City Hall. Take a second look at the photos and stories that make up This Week in Pictures.

A giant mural is now visible on the west wall at 1221 Main St. thanks to a partnership between Buffalo Center for Arts and Technology (BCAT) and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. Students in the art program are working with well-known Brooklyn muralist Alice Mizrachi (right). The mural was conceived by the students with Mizrahi as they studied the Harlem renaissance and are looking at the Buffalo renaissance. It's a mix of their vision and dreams for Buffalo and themselves. The mural is meant to be a bridge between the East and West sides. The students see this mural as being a fun and freeing way to start the conversation. (Sharon Cantillon/Buffalo News) Read more.
