Snack at cafe in future Explore & More – and gaze out at ice skaters

A significant contribution has put Explore & More Children’s Museum halfway toward its $18.3 million fundraising goal.

M&T Bank announced Friday it was providing $500,000 to sponsor the cafe in the new museum at Canalside, and assisting the development of a first-grade curriculum for Westmister Community Charter School – a Buffalo Promise Neighborhood school.

“Throughout our 160-year history, M&T has been a community-focused bank,” said Shelley Drake, a bank senior vice president who is president of the M&T Bank Charitable Foundation.

The cafe would overlook Canalside, offering a view of ice skaters on The Ice in the winter and people playing on paddle boats in the summers.

“We know our success depends on the success of our communities. So, when we get involved, we stay involved. That’s especially true when it comes to our work to educate our city’s youth.”

Explore & More CEO Douglas Love expressed his appreciation to M&T Bank, and said he was optimistic the museum would meet its fundraising goal in two years.
