Security camera leads Buffalo police to hit-and run driver who injured 10-year-old

A 38-year-old woman was charged Thursday night with leaving the scene of an injury accident after Buffalo police said she struck a 10-year-old boy with her vehicle and left the area.

The city’s surveillance camera at Bailey Avenue and Dartmouth located her 2003 Dodge Caravan and information from the camera room was quickly relayed to patrol officers who apprehended her a short time later. The boy, who was treated and released from Women & Children’s Hospital, was struck just before 7 p.m. at Dartmouth and Comstock avenues, Buffalo police said.

The boy was playing and ran into the street when the driver struck him, according to police.

The woman drove away but was tracked via city surveillance cameras.

Phoebe Banks of Buffalo was charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident and vehicle and traffic infractions.
