Hamburg Village Mayor Thomas J. Moses Sr. has been elected chairman of the Hamburg Industrial Development Agency.
The industrial development agency was left without a leader when the Hamburg Town Board removed Supervisor Steven Walters and Councilman Michael Quinn from the IDA board last month.
Walters had been the chairman of the agency’s board.
“We’ve got a lot on our docket,” Moses said. “I just want to see it continue and keep this on the right path.”
In recent action, the IDA approved assistance for the Moore Group to buy a nearly two-acre parcel at Lake Erie Commerce Park near FedEx Ground Transport. The company plans to build a 6,800-square-foot building at the intersection of Lake Erie Boulevard and Bayview Road.
The package delivery business offers medical file transport, storage and delivery. The building will be a warehouse/distribution facility and company headquarters.
The company received a mortgage tax abatement, a sales tax exemption on items purchased for the building and a seven-year payment in lieu of taxes agreement.
The IDA also approved assistance for Davis Financial to buy a vacant building on South Park Avenue and renovate it under the IDA’s adaptive reuse program. The building needs nearly $70,000 in structural repairs, according to the IDA.
Davis Financial will receive mortgage and sales tax exemptions and the equivalent of a property tax abatement for 10 years.
