ELLICOTT – A 4 year old drowned Tuesday in a pool at a home in Chautauqua County.
Police and firefighters were called to 3013 Water St. at about 3 p.m. for the report of a possible drowning victim.
First responders transported the child to WCA Hospital in Jamestown. The child was pronounced dead at the hospital, Ellicott police said.
According to police, the child had been running around and playing in the yard. Just out of sight of the parents, the child was able to climb into the pool, which was not being used at the time. It was used earlier in the day, police said.
The investigation continues, but police said at this time all indications point to an accidental drowning.
