Three firefighters injured in two-alarm blaze in Lovejoy

Three firefighters were injured battling a two-alarm fire early Tuesday morning in Buffalo’s Lovejoy neighborhood.

The fire began in a vacant building undergoing renovations at 1211 East Lovejoy St., at the corner of Davey Street, according to the Buffalo Fire Department alarm office. Police officers in the area noticed the fire and alerted the fire department at about 2:30 a.m.

The blaze in the 2½-story building at 1211 East Lovejoy, which has a first-floor storefront, started in the first floor, extending to the second floor and attic. Damage to that structure was pegged at $105,000.

The fire spread to 1213 East Lovejoy, an occupied, 2½-story home. The blaze damaged the building’s second floor and attic. The fire department estimated damage at $105,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
