NT sex offender given five years in prison

LOCKPORT – A sex offender who failed on probation was sentenced Monday to five years in state prison and 10 years of post-release supervision.

Jordan L. Hoefert, 19, of Payne Avenue, North Tonawanda, had been placed on probation in March 2014 for molesting a 9-year-old girl in his bedroom on Memorial Day weekend in 2012.

Assistant District Attorney Cheryl L. Nichols said Tuesday that Hoefert violated probation in several ways, including failing to report email and social media accounts to authorities, as required by the Sex Offender Registration Act. He pleaded guilty to a separate felony for that, but Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III sentenced Hoefert concurrently for both offenses.
