Hotel Henry, the new hotel and conference center now under development at the Richardson-Olmsted Complex in Buffalo, has started booking weddings and special events as of April 1, 2017.
The new “urban resort” inside the historic landmark facility at 444 Forest Ave., has begun promoting its availability online and through social media to host parties, social events, meetings, conferences and other activities in the 88-room hotel and 20,000-square-foot conference center. The $70 million facility – the centerpiece of the overall complex’s redevelopment – includes one two-bedroom suite, three one-bedroom suites, 34 king rooms, seven queen rooms, 43 double rooms and connecting guest spaces, and the conference center can handle groups of up to 500. The hotel will be operated by InnVest Lodging Services, which also owns and runs The Mansion on Delaware Avenue.
The 180,000-square-foot complex, originally designed by H.H. Richardson and onetime home of the Buffalo State Asylum for the Insane, is located within the 48-acre grounds and gardens designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. The building, best known for its 185-foot-tall twin towers, also features 25-foot ceilings and original spiral brick staircases. Workers have already installed a new slate roof with copper flashing, restored hallways, and replastered and repainted walls.
