A City of Tonawanda man went out for dinner at Burger King on Saturday with his 13-year-old son.
The man was too drunk to drive, so he let his son get behind the wheel, according to City of Tonawanda police.
Police were called to the fast-food restaurant on Delaware Street for the report of a drunk man who was giving employees a hard time.
Police learned the man let his son drive to the restaurant, first stopping at a gas station for gas and cigarettes, police said.
Kevin M. McCaffrey, 40, of Fletcher Street, was charged at 7 p.m. Friday with child endangerment and second-degree reckless endangerment.
His son was taken to a relative’s home and Child Protective Services was contacted. The son told police, “My dad was too drunk to drive, so I did the driving,” police said.
