It’s July, so Christmas tree growers will meet in Holland

They’ll be talking Christmas in Holland next week, when about 200 Christmas tree farmers get together for their summer meeting.

Ray and Ann Zywiczynski and their family, owners of Country Pine Farm and Natural Land Works, on Humphries Road in Holland, will host the growers.

What is there to talk about in July?

They brush up on anything from the basics of pruning and herbicides, digging and planting, dealing with ticks, soil selection, Turkish fir update, invasive species, designing and decorating.

There will information for new growers just getting started, and like any trade show, vendors will show equipment and supplies related to the Christmas tree industry.

Members of the Christmas Tree Farmers Association of New York also will visit five Western New York Christmas tree farms during the three-day meeting.

The association’s mission is to “empower its members with knowledge, and opportunities for the promotion of the real Christmas tree.”
