Two men arrested in alleged Ryan Street meth lab

A 55-year-old man was arrested in a Ryan Street flat Wednesday for allegedly operating a meth lab, and a 54-year-old man was arrested there for allegedly illegally possessing a firearm.

Matthew D. McCarthy, 55, was charged with third-degree unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine, second-degree criminal possession of methamphetamine manufacturing material and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Antony A. McCarthy, 54 was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Matthew McCarthy was held and Antony McCarthy was issued an appearance ticket for Buffalo City Court proceedings later in the month.

The arrests were a result of an investigation by Troop A of the State Police and the Erie County District Attorney’s Office. The possible family-relationship of the two suspects was not disclosed. The State Police Special Operations Response Team and its Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team assisted during the raid that began about 5:42 a.m. Wednesday.
