Frontier School Board members chose a new vice president, and have a vacancy on the board after one member resigned.
Janet MacGregor Plarr was re-elected president at the board’s reorganization meeting Tuesday night, Davis Podkulski was elected vice president, and, Tom Best Jr. resigned at the end of the meeting.
While Plarr was unopposed, the first vote for vice president was a 3-3 tie between Podkulski and David Patton. There are seven members on the board, but Patton was a few minutes late to the meeting.
Plarr, Martin Lalka and Best voted for Patton, while Larry Albert, Patrick Boyle and Podkulski voted for Podkulski. When it seemed that a second vote was going to be a tie, Best changed his vote to Podkulski, giving him four votes and the vice presidency. Patton walked in as his name was called for a vote, and he voted for himself, but Podkulski had already received four votes.
Near the end of the meeting, Best, who has been serving on the Hamburg Town Board since Jan. 1, resigned from the School Board.
The board made no decision on whether or how to fill the vacancy.
