Resume: There probably isn't a player at the Sabres Development Camp that is happier to be there than Glotov. He loves the facilities, the coaches and above all, loves being a Buffalo Sabre. His bubbly personality has already helped him make some friends the first two days.
"I live with Brandon Hagel from Red Deer of the WHL," Glotov said. "Also my friend is Philip Nyberg from Sweden. Today I did a lot of exercises with Rasmus Asplund. He's my buddy. All the guys are nice teammates. I didn't know nobody here, but I feel like they are all my guys."
His enthusiasm is on full display on his Twitter account, where he has tweeted updates since getting drafted by the Sabres. He's already become a Twitter favorite among Sabres fans and accumulated quite the following.
“I had a Twitter account before the draft but I didn’t have tweets," Glotov said. "I’m waiting for the draft. Then, I see my name, boom. I’m very happy. I’m very proud. Couple days after, the CHL Import Draft. Then boom, again. I like it. Twitter is nice. I have fun. I have broken English, but sometimes I get my broken English purposely, just for fun.”
He'll be playing in North America for the first time next season with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of the QMJHL. He was selected in the first round of the CHL Import Draft.
"I'm excited to play at Cape with a lot of great players," Glotov said. "We have a good team. I want to fight for the Cup. I want to win the Q Cup and also the Memorial Cup. That's my goal."
How would you describe your game?
"My style is skilled play. I like shot and to skate. I like to play smart. Hockey IQ is my strong side. Also I like to play fast."
What player do you model your game after?
"Like Nikita Kucherov, I'm similar. Kucherov and Evgeny Kuznetsov together."
What is your greatest hockey memory?
"When I was young, I'm '97, but I played for '95. I scored a goal, and my grandfather said, hands up, 'That's my boy.' I was so happy. Then I hear from my grandfather, 'Hey, high five,' and he gave me bubble gum. I was skating off the ice with the bubble gum. It was fun."
Why do you wear No. 77?
"I like 7. When I came to my new team in St. Petersberg, I looked at the free numbers and I had only 24 and 77. I like 7's, so I went with 77. Next year I want to change my number. Maybe it's 97 or 72. Maybe is 27 or 7. It's those four numbers for me."
What’s something you like to do off the ice?
"I have a girl and I walk with my girl from the city. Also, my favorite thing is to play PS4. I like general manager, career mode. Play some FIFA or NHL, I like that. Some trades, some buying, some selling. I like that."
