Bankruptcy filings in the Buffalo-Rochester region recorded an uncommon increase in June, rising 4.3 percent from a year ago.
Filings in Buffalo alone rose 4.6 percent, while filings in Rochester increased 3.8 percent. The combined total was 388 cases, compared to 372 the year before.
For the first half of the year, bankruptcy filings were down 4.1 percent from the same period in 2015.
Bankruptcy filings in the region have been declining for the past several years, with occasional monthly increases. The most recent such increases were in February of this year and in July 2015.
