Sabres’ development camp opens Wednesday

Tickets are on sale for the marquee events of the Buffalo Sabres’ annual development camp, which opens Wednesday for its inaugural run in HarborCenter.

All workouts are free and open to the public except for Saturday’s Blue & Gold scrimmage at 1 p.m. and the 3-on-3 tournament for the French Connection Cup on July 12 at 9:15 a.m. Tickets are $20 for the scrimmage and $10 for the 3-on-3 tourney. They are available at

The camp will feature 43 Sabres prospects, including all 10 players the team selected at the 2016 NHL Draft and four players who appeared for Buffalo last year in Justin Bailey, Hudson Fasching, Evan Rodrigues and Linus Ullmark. The draftees making their Buffalo debut include first-round choice Alexander Nylander, selected eighth overall in the draft June 24 in First Niagara Center.

Attendees will take part in both on-ice and off-ice workouts to learn the systems and conditioning programs of NHL players, and will have other sessions to learn more about the life of a professional athlete.

Public on-ice sessions are subject to change, with announcements made at The current schedule looks like this:

Wednesday: 2:15-3:30, 4:15-5:30; Thursday: 9:50-11:20 a.m., 1:20-2:50 p.m.; Friday: 9:50-11:15 a.m., 1:45-3:05 p.m.

Saturday: Scrimmage, 1 p.m. (Admission $20); Sunday: Off; Monday: 9:50-11:30 a.m.; 1:30-2:50 p.m.; Tuesday: French Connection Tournament, 9:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. (Admission $10).

Eden’s Dylan Seitz, who plays for the Buffalo Junior Sabres, has been named to USA Hockey’s under-18 select team. The forward will represent the United States at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament on Aug. 8-13 in Czechia and Slovakia.


The Sabres’ annual Street HockeyFest will be held Aug. 21 on the streets near First Niagara Center. Registration is open for boys and girls ages 17 and under with a cost of $150 per four- or five-player team. Each player gets a hat and T-shirt.
