Gunfire hits two men on Buffalo’s East Side; 46-year-old man dies after Cheektowaga shooting

Two men were shot in their legs shortly before 1 p.m. Monday near Dodge Street and Roehrer Avenue on Buffalo’s East Side.

The victims, ages 34 and 39, were taken to Erie County Medical Center in a private vehicle, according to Buffalo police spokesman Michael J. DeGeorge. Their identities have not been released.

The injuries were not life-threatening, DeGeorge added.

The gunfire comes on the heels of the fatal shooting of a 46-year-old man Sunday night on Marne Road in Cheektowaga, according to town police.

The victim, who was shot several times, died early Monday morning at Erie County Medical Center, Assistant Police Chief James Speyer said.

His name was not released.

Police were called to 46 Marne at about 9:45 p.m. Officers administered first-aid until Rural/Metro Ambulance crews arrived and took the victim to ECMC.

It appears the victim and the shooter knew each other, based on the preliminary investigation, Speyer said.

Detectives are interviewing witnesses and continuing to investigate.

Marne is just past the Buffalo-Cheektowaga line, near East Delavan Avenue and Eggert Road.

Buffalo police ask anyone who may have information on the Monday shootings to call or text the department’s confidential tip line at 847-2255.
