This week in the Town of Tonawanda
Town and Village of Kenmore residents who are combat veterans of the Afghanistan, Iraq and Gulf wars will be honored at 5:30 p.m. today during a ceremony at Kenney Field, 2000 Colvin Blvd.
Music by the American Legion Band of the Tonawandas follows at 7:15 p.m. The event ends with fireworks at 10 p.m. Bring a folding chair. Rain date is Tuesday.
• A work session of the Kenmore Village Board begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the mayor’s office at the Municipal Building, 2919 Delaware Ave. A regular meeting follows at 8 in Council Chambers. The board will hold a public hearing on a developer’s plan for 37 market-rate apartments in the former St. Paul’s school on Victoria Boulevard, which closed in 2010.
• The town’s Planning Board meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Room 21 at the Municipal Building, 2919 Delaware Ave.
• The town’s 2016 outdoor summer concert series begins at 7:30 p.m. Thursday with Easy Street Big Band at Lincoln Arena, 1200 Parker Blvd.
• The Kenmore Village Improvement Society’s annual Gigantic Kenmore Garage Sale is from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday. A map of sale locations will be posted Friday on villageofkenmore.com. There will be a treasure hunt and a “Whad ya Get?” video booth set up at the Village Green in front of the Municipal Building for shoppers to share their favorite finds.
