Falls man avoids jail in apartment burglary

LOCKPORT – A man who stole money from another man in a Niagara Falls apartment last year was sentenced Thursday to five years’ probation.

Joseph P. Tarapczynski, 31, of 25th Street in the Falls, also must repay $240 to the victim in the Feb. 26, 2015, crime on Third Street.

On April 5, Tarapczynski pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree burglary and went into drug treatment, in which Kloch said he’d done well. He could have sent the defendant to prison for as long as seven years.
