Celoron man arrested after incident near his home

CELORON – A 35-year-old Celoron man was arrested late Wednesday night by Chautauqua County sheriff deputies and Town of Ellicott police officers after he allegedly tried to flee when confronted about an incident near his Dunham Avenue home.

Michael G. Newman was quickly captured as he fled on foot into a nearby wooded area. He was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration. After his arraignment in Ellicott Town Court, he was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail in Mayville pending further court proceedings.
