Boy and man shot on Humason Avenue both in critical condition

The 11-year-old boy and 20-year-old man who were shot Wednesday night on the first block of Humason Avenue are both in critical condition, Buffalo police said Thursday morning. Both are at Erie County Medical Center.

They were shot just before 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The 20-year-old man was the apparent target of a “gang-related shooting,” Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda said Wednesday night, although details of the shooting were “sketchy.”

Mayor Byron Brown met at the hospital with the family of the boy.

Homicide detectives were questioning some witnesses at Buffalo Police Headquarters late Wednesday night. Other homicide detectives were still at the scene of the shooting late in the evening.

Police Department spokesman Michael DeGeorge said that anyone with information is urged to call the confidential police tip line at 847-2255.
