Behind the Scenes: Calls for work, auditions

Alleyway Theatre is seeking new play entries for the annual international competition in memory of Canadian actor/playwright Maxim Mazumdar. It is open to anyone of any age or citizenship. Entries may be of any style, but preference will be given to those scripts that are theatrical, not imitations of typical TV or film scripts. Entries must not be previously produced and are to be withheld from production during competition period. Western New York Book Arts Center (468 Washington St.) is accepting submissions for its annual members’ exhibition, which will be on view July 15 to Aug. 19. Submissions may include any work that is book related: prints (letterpress, screen, monotype, etc.), painting, text, collage, papermaking, traditional binding and sculptural books. The Towne Players are holding auditions for the October production of Ira Levin’s “Deathtrap” from 7 to 9 p.m. July 11 and 12 at the Sheridan-Parkside Community Center (169 Sheridan-Parkside, Tonawanda). The production is seeking three men and two women (ages 35 to 50). Also needed is tech and backstage help. Performance dates are Oct. 7, 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16. For more information call 228-1295.
