White’s team fourth in senior tennis

Ken White of Elma and the U.S. team finished fourth in the Fred Perry Cup competition for men 50 and over at last week’s ITF Senior World Team Championships in Helsinki. France defeated the U.S., 3-0, in the match to decide third and fourth place.

White and doubles partner Douglas R. Elly of Springfield, Mo., went 3-2 in the tournament including a 7-6 (5), 4-6, 7-6 (5) loss to France in the third-place match. White was 0-2 in singles. The U.S. Perry Cup team defeated Sweden (2-1), Estonia (3-0) and Great Britain (2-1) before losing to Italy (2-1) and France.
