Race for Erie County DA should focus on experience
There has been a lot in the local news lately about the race for Erie County’s next district attorney. However, what hasn’t been said is that there is only one truly qualified candidate based on experience. Only one seasoned prosecutor with 22 years of experience in the DA’s Office. That’s 22 years spent prosecuting criminals, and years of leading over 100 assistant district attorneys.
This is someone who served the public tirelessly as chief of the Buffalo City Court Bureau, the Narcotics Bureau, the Grand Jury Bureau and as the chief public corruption prosecutor. That man is not a politician. He won’t be running for some other office as soon as a window of opportunity opens up. He doesn’t want to use the DA’s Office as a steppingstone to a cushy judgeship. He just wants to be DA and continue to fight against corruption and crime.
That man is Mark Sacha. I hope the Democrats of Erie County are smart enough to put him on the ballot come September.
