Cheektowaga man charged with cocaine possession in Falls

LOCKPORT – A man who was wanted on a burglary charge in Niagara Falls had almost a quarter ounce of cocaine when police picked him up Nov. 5, an indictment unsealed Wednesday alleged.

William L. Putman III, 30, of Pendlewood Court, Cheektowaga, a former Falls resident, appeared in Niagara County Court to plead not guilty to three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, as well as unlawful possession of marijuana and two vehicle and traffic charges.

Assistant District Attorney Laura T. Bittner said Putman was arrested after a traffic stop when police found 0.24 ounces of powdered cocaine, Suboxone and marijuana in the vehicle.
