Police identify New Jersey woman killed in Perry Center crash

PERRY CENTER – Authorities have identified the New Jersey woman who was killed in a two-car crash Friday in Perry Center in which five of her family members were injured.

Veena Jethva, 73, of Monmouth Junction, N.J., was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, the intersection of Route 20A and Route 246, according to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office..

The driver of the vehicle, Nayankuma Jethva, 46, also of Monmouth Junction, was traveling west on Route 20A when his vehicle was struck by a vehicle headed north on Route 246. The driver of the second vehicle was identified as Daniel Robb, 54, of the Town of Perry. According to the sheriff’s office, Robb had failed to stop at a red light.

Haridas Jethva, 74, suffered minor injuries in the crash and was treated at Wyoming County Community Health System and released. Purvi Jethva, 42, was transported by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester where she was treated for a possible broken back. A 10-year-old child who was in the car was treated for a possible fractured jaw and facial injuries. His 8-year-old brother also suffered facial injuries. Both children were treated at Strong and released, the sheriff’s office reported.

Nayankuma Jethva, was treated for a fractured ankle and later released from the Rochester hospital. All six members of the Jethva family were from Monmouth and were headed to Toronto.

Robb was treated for minor facial injuries and also released from the hospital. He was charged with failing to stop at a red light and Nayankuma Jethva was issued a ticket for driving with an expired license.
