Jamestown woman killed, man seriously injured in one-car crash

JAMESTOWN – A woman passenger was killed and the man driving the vehicle she was in was seriously injured when their car crashed into a tree Saturday in the Town of Ellicott.

Debra Wigren, 49, of Jamestown, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which remained under investigation Monday.

Mark J. Myers, 42, also of Jamestown, was traveling northeast on Buffalo Street Extension near the Willard Street Extension in Ellicott when he lost control of the vehicle shortly before 10 p.m. and struck a tree, according to the Town of Ellicott Police Department.

Myers was extricated from the vehicle with assistance from the Falconer Fire Department and transported by Starflight to Hammot Medical Center in Erie, Pa.

The Ellicott police were assisted at the scene by State Police and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team.
