Bruce E. Narbe, broadcaster and owner of Golf Car Express

April 9, 1952 – June 21, 2016

Bruce E. Narbe, of Orchard Park, owner of a golf cart leasing company, died unexpectedly June 21 at Mercy Hospital. He was 64.

Born in Buffalo, he graduated from Orchard Park High School, earned his broadcasting license and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in religion from Taylor University in Upland, Ind. He worked briefly at stations in Western New York and Indiana.

Mr. Narbe purchased a battery business that included a franchise for Club Car golf carts and started Golf Car Express in Orchard Park in 1982. He leased golf carts to major TV networks for their PGA Tour coverage, and for several years, he provided carts for the Indy Car and NASCAR auto racing circuits.

He was a member of the Orchard Park Country Club, the Orchard Park Chamber of Commerce and the Orchard Park Wesleyan Church. He played in “The Yates” Memorial Golf Tournament for more than 20 years.

He met with a group of men for a weekly prayer breakfast for 14 years. He was a supporter of Young Life, Camp Cherith of Western New York and Camp Hickory Hill. As a young man, he was active in the Orchard Park Wesleyan Church Boys Christian Service Brigade.

Survivors include his partner of 14 years, Theresa Gallagher; two daughters, Lauren M. and Christina L.; two brothers, Thom M. and Edward A.; and a sister, Lori Swift.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Orchard Park Wesleyan Church, 7295 Ellicott Road, Orchard Park.
