Dave Andreychuk and Alexander Mogilny are among the Hockey Hall of Fame hopefuls waiting for a phone call.
The hall's selection committee will meet Monday in Toronto to elect the Class of 2016. Former Sabres Andreychuk and Mogilny have a shot at being honored.
Andreychuk recorded 640 goals and 1,338 points in a 23-year career that included a Stanley Cup in Tampa Bay. He has the most goals of anyone not in the hall, but he's been eligible for election for eight years. He's presumably been passed over because of the belief that his numbers are the product of longevity rather than Hall of Fame talent.
Mogilny's best season was a 76-goal outing in Buffalo. He totaled 473 goals and 1,032 points.
Eric Lindros is favored for election. The list of first-year nominees and holdover candidates is available here.
