Vocational ambition leads to scholarships

The Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of the $1,500, 2016 vocational scholarships in honor of the late executive director Allene “Sue” Hinners, a former teacher.

Presented in her memory, the scholarships recognize students who have earned the highest overall average in the vocational BOCES program: Marissa Todaro plans to study veternary technology at Medaille College. Jayson Koscielniak will major in natural resource management at Erie Community College. He plans to transfer to a state school and study environmental science and forestry.

Winners must be continuing their education at a full-time, two-year or longer program.
