Maryvale seniors march through schools in caps and gowns

The Maryvale Class of 2016 has launched what the class hopes will become a tradition on the school campus.

Dressed in their caps and gowns, the soon-to-be-alumni took a graduation walk on the Maryvale Drive campus Wednesday, parading through the intermediate and middle schools as the younger students and teachers cheered them on.

District officials said the proceeding provides the graduates an opportunity to be congratulated by younger students as well as the teachers that they had while growing up in the district.

The parade also gave younger students a goal to strive for in the years ahead.

Maryvale’s graduation ceremony is Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the high school, 1050 Maryvale Drive.
