Rosen among three to share men’s lead at Erie County Amateur; Penn leads women’s field

Bob Rosen’s recent run of solid play continued Saturday during the first round of the fifth Erie County Amateur Championship at Grover Cleveland. Rosen shot a round of 2-under 67 to share the lead with Mark Lesinski and Andrew Poturalski after 18 holes. On Tuesday, Rosen won the Buffalo District Golf Association’s Men’s Mid-Amateur championship with a round of 73 at Cherry Hill.

A total of 21 golfers are within five shots of the lead after the first round, with James Tee alone in fourth place following an even-par 69.

On the women’s side, Marah Penn shot an even-par 69 to hold a six-shot lead over Sydney Shaw. The final round begins at 8 a.m. Sunday.
