LEVY - Jean Long time Snyder resident, Jean Levy, died peacefully this month in San Francisco at age 97. Jean was an inspiring teacher at both the elementary school and college level, a first rate bridge player, dedicated art enthusiast and wonderful friend to many. Jean taught 6th grade at Harlem Road School. Her reading and enrichment classes at Smallwood School were creatively new at the time. And, her terrific SEEK program classes at State University of New York College at Buffalo were exceptional. When Jean retired from teaching, she became a successful docent at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. She and her husband, Bob, who predeceased her, retired to San Diego in the 1990's.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Janice; granddaughters, Carrie Sadler (Chris) and Becky Mares, and son-in-law, Steve Mares. Her daughter, Phyllis Mares, predeceased her. Contributions in Jean's memory may be made to: Temple Beth Zion in Buffalo, or the San Diego Center for the Blind (5922 El Cajon Blvd), or Cooking Matters in Denver, Colorado (1824 Lincoln Street, Denver 80203).
